The Coffee and Mushrooms

What is Magic Munch mushroom coffee?

Magic Munch is specialty Bolivian ground coffee blended with Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) and Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor (Coriolus)) fruiting-body extracts. Real coffee, not instant, roasted in small batches in Denver.

What is in each bag?

Bolivian coffee, Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) extract, and Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor (Coriolus)) extract. No fillers or mycelium fermented grain. Each 321 g bag provides approximately 18 servings of 18 g dry blend. We share ingredient identities and measured compound results without publishing our exact blending proportions.

Why these two mushrooms?

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is studied for its potential role in cognitive and nerve health. Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor (Coriolus)) is studied for its polysaccharides and their potential role in immune and gut health. We chose a focused blend rather than a long list of species. Research on particular mushroom preparations does not establish the same effects from this coffee.

What does 1:1 hot-water extraction mean?

It describes how the mushroom extracts are prepared. It is not a beta-glucan percentage or proof that an extract is more effective. We use 1:1 fruiting-body extracts and report the finished dry blend's test results separately.

What is fruiting body? What is mycelium fermented grain?

The fruiting body is the mushroom itself. Mycelium fermented grain is fungal mycelium grown on grain and processed with its substrate. Our extracts use fruiting bodies, not mycelium fermented grain.

Where does the coffee come from?

Caranavi in Bolivia's Yungas region, grown at 1,400–1,600 meters above sea level. Mario selected the coffee through cuppings in Bolivia and worked with Kevin, our Denver roaster, to find a flavor that pairs with the mushroom extracts.

Is it certified organic?

The mushroom extracts are Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal. The coffee is not certified organic. We keep that distinction clear.

What does it taste like?

Coffee comes first: bright citrus, red cherry, and a chocolate-like finish. Some people notice subtle earthy, oaty, or umami notes from the extracts. Our coffee has a specialty cup score of 85 to 87.

Do you sell coffee without mushrooms?

Yes. Our Bolivian whole coffee beans are roasted in small batches in Denver and use the same coffee origin as our mushroom blend.

Functional Compounds and Testing

What compounds are reported, and why do they matter?

Beta-glucans — approximately 823 mg: Mushroom compounds studied for immune support and their potential role in gut health. Calculated from the initial finished dry blend's lab-tested concentration of 4.57% by weight.

Erinacine C — 131.4 micrograms (0.1314 mg): A compound associated with Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus), investigated for its role in nerve growth factor, a protein involved in nerve-cell growth and survival.

Adenosine — approximately 0.84 mg: A naturally occurring compound involved in sleep signaling and blood-flow regulation. Its presence does not mean the coffee improves sleep or counteracts caffeine.

Adenine (hemisulfate) — approximately 1.14 mg: Adenine is a building block used to make ATP, the molecule that supplies energy to cells. The sample result is reported as adenine (hemisulfate).

All amounts are calculated per 18 g dry serving from the initial finished-blend beta-glucan test and the published R&D sample COA for the other compounds. They are not measurements of brewed coffee or proof of health benefits from this product.

Does 4.57% describe the extracts or the whole blend?

The whole initial finished dry coffee blend, including its coffee base. It is not a measurement of raw-extract purity or the individual contribution of either mushroom.

What is a Certificate of Analysis, and where can I see it?

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) reports specified tests and results for a particular sample. It supports those results, not every possible health claim or untested safety measure. Visit our Lab Results page to inspect published reports and testing information. Supplier names are redacted to protect our supply chain.

Taste and Brewing

How do I brew it?

Brew the mushroom coffee as ground coffee using drip, French press, pour-over, Chemex, or AeroPress. Start with 18 g dry blend and 270 g water, a 1:15 ratio, and adjust to taste. Our whole beans need grinding to suit your brewing method first.

How much of the measured compounds reaches my cup?

The reports describe dry blend. They do not establish the amount retained after brewing or prove that one brewing method delivers more than another.

Can I add milk or sweetener?

Absolutely. Prepare it the way you enjoy your coffee. Published compound amounts describe dry blend before brewing and additions.

Shipping and Subscription

When does it ship?

Magic Munch launches in December of 2026. Orders placed at launch will ship within standard fulfillment timelines. Join the email list for early access and launch notifications.

How long does it take to ship?

Standard shipping is $13 with an estimated delivery window of 3–5 business days. Express shipping is $35 with an estimated delivery window of 1–2 business days. These rates exclude Alaska and Hawaii. Please select your preferred shipping method at checkout.

Do you offer subscriptions?

Yes. Subscriptions delivered every 2 or 3 weeks receive 15% off. Monthly subscriptions receive 10% off. The coffee bundle does not receive an additional subscription discount. Select the subscription option on the product page to see the recurring price and delivery frequency before adding it to your cart. After purchase, sign in with the email used at checkout to manage your subscription.

Where can I manage my subscription?

You can find your subscription on the Account Management page under the Customer Account section. Sign in with the email address you used at checkout.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Account Management > Customer Account > View Details on the subscription page, then select Pause or Cancel and follow the cancellation prompts.

How do I skip my next order or pause my subscription?

Go to Account Management > Customer Account > Manage, then choose Skip next order or Pause.

What is your return policy?

If you are not satisfied, have feedback, or need help with anything, contact us at info@magiicmunch.com within 10 days of delivery. We will make it right.

The Giving Commitment

What is the 1% commitment?

1% of every sale, calculated on gross revenue rather than profit, goes to Proyecto Solidario, which supports communities in Bolivia. Giving from revenue means giving from day one. Bolivia gave us the coffee. We give back to Bolivia.

Health and Your Routine

Will this give me jitters or a crash?

It contains caffeine, and responses vary. We do not promise a jitter-free experience or claim the mushroom compounds cancel caffeine's effects. If you are sensitive, start with a smaller serving.

Can I drink it every day?

It is designed for a coffee routine. Consider your caffeine tolerance and individual health needs. We do not promise a particular timeline for benefits.

I have a medical condition. Can I drink this?

If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication, consult your healthcare provider before adding any functional food to your routine. Magic Munch is a food product, not a medical treatment.
